IGP exhorts officers to pre-assign responsibilities for disaster management | KNO

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 16 (KNO) : Inspector General of Police, Dr. S D Singh, today chaired the valedictory function of two day Incident Response System (IRS) Training on Disaster Management. The training had been organised by the Divisional Disaster Management Authority, Jammu in collaboration with NDMA and J&KSDMA. Speaking on the occasion, IGP said that the objective of the training was to bring all the stakeholders on the same platform so that at the time of any eventuality proper coordination can be ensured, to minimize loss of lives and property during disaster like situations. He focused on the importance of training so that all Departments are pre-designated and pre-assigned responsibilities to handle and plan for effective disaster management. He encouraged the departments at the district and local levels to be in a state of readiness for any eventuality. The programme was conducted by Director Disaster Management & Deputy CEO J&K SDMA Aamir Ali. Brigadier Kuldip Singh, Specialist from NDMA, explained in detail about how the IRS system actually works for better response in case of any incident. Earlier, the training program was formally inaugurated by Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir in presence of Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda. More than 100 participants attended the training program which included Additional Commissioner, Jammu Anuradha Rani, Deputy Director F&ES, Jammu, Ramesh Raina, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Poonch, Former Commissioner SMC, Dr GN Qasba, Additional SP, Rajouri, Bhaderwah, Doda. Reasi, Kathua, Ramban, Kishtwar, Samba; Chief Medical Officers, Assistant Directors Fire & Emeregncy Services, Addt Directors CAPD, Chief Executive Officers Municipal Councils and other officers. Additional Commissioner, Jammu presented vote of thanks and appreciated Aamir Ali and his team of Disaster Management Professionals for the training program. The participants were presented certificates of participation and resource person from NDMA was felicitated with a Memento.(KNO)
